Things were really interesting through 6 innings as Edina & Westside carried a scoreless game into the 7th inning. The ESox offense could only muster 3 hits through 6 innings.
Thank goodness for Mark Schroeder.
Schroeder faced two batters over the minimum, striking out 10. The only Westside hitters to reach came via a single and a walk in the 4th inning. Other than that rally mustered by Westside in the 4th, Schroeder retired the Bombers lineup in order for the rest of the game. The Westside mistakes and the Edina offense both surfaced in the top of the 7th as Bombers walked the bases loaded with no outs to start the inning. An error, single, and a double yielded the 5 run margin of victory Edina ended up with.
Edina won both meetings with Westside this season with their earlier win coming on June 3. They currently have a 5-2 record in Riverview league play.
